On Saturday 16th February the new Astro Turf facility at the Athlone Town Stadium will be formally opened by John Delaney, CEO of the Football Association of Ireland. Also expected to attend the ceremony are Minister Kevin “Boxer” Moran, Senator Gabrielle McFadden, Mayor Frankie Keena and Fran Gavin, Competitions Director of the Football Association of Ireland.

The event will be open to the public and all supporters and interested parties are invited to attend. We would be particularly delighted to see all ex-players, managers, committee members and volunteers who have all put in a huge effort over the years for the club come along and enjoy the day. Events will get underway at midday with refreshments provided for everybody and the formal opening ceremony will take place on the pitch at 1.00pm. Senior Team manager Terry Butler and his squad will also be on hand to meet supporters and answer questions about the season ahead.

The ceremony will then be followed a match when our U17 Team will play U17 Cabinteely in a friendly game, kick off at 1.30pm.
