We mentioned this morning how the U17 boys had a chance to write their names into the history books and that is exactly what they did because they only went and won the ๐๐ผ ๐๐ฅ๐ค๐ง๐ฉ ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ง๐๐ฃ ๐พ๐ช๐ฅ !!!
It was a very evenly matched game which really could have gone to either team and no one would have had any reason to complain had the result gone the other way.
The only difference between the sides came after 6 minutes of extra time when Kevin Sweeney unleashed his cultured right foot and curled a corner directly into the net over everyoneโs heads and sent everyone in the stand, let alone on the pitch, into raptures of excitement and delight.
The goal came after almost seven minutes of injury time and there was still another three minutes to go but the lads held on and were duly crowned EA Sports Mark Farren Cup Champions for 2022.
They may have started the day as U17 boys but, in the eyes of all the supporters in the stand, they finished the day, not just as men but as giants.
